Buyer packet

Everything a team needs to evaluate BOM Compare.

A forward-ready packet for the people who need confidence before rollout: operations, prefab, VDC/BIM, procurement, and security reviewers.

Workflow summary

Design or model changes create revised material exports. BOM Compare turns the original and revised exports into a revision-impact report.

Data handling

Raw BOM and supplier quote files are processed in the browser by default. Saved workspace records store settings, summaries, and report metadata.

Pilot checklist

Run two or three real BOM revisions, export one report the team accepts, measure old Excel time against the new workflow, then decide the paid path.

Evaluation checklist

What each reviewer should check.

Keep the evaluation practical. The goal is one trusted revision-impact report, not a long implementation project.

Operations and prefab

  • Can a coordinator create the first report without help?
  • Are added, removed, and quantity-changed items clear?
  • Does the exported report work for handoff?

Procurement

  • Does the report show what changed before material moves?
  • Are review rows separated from trusted changes?
  • Is Quote Compare preview clearly marked before purchase-order use?

IT and security

  • Are raw files browser-local by default?
  • Are saved records metadata-only unless explicitly enabled later?
  • Is there no SOC 2 or ISO claim until certification exists?

Pilot success criteria

  • 2-3 real BOM revision comparisons
  • 1 exported report accepted by the team
  • Old Excel time and new workflow time measured
  • No trust-breaking report or privacy issues
  • Buyer identifies a clear paid path

Safe support rules

  • Do not email raw BOMs, supplier quotes, part numbers, or line-item descriptions unless a controlled support process is arranged.
  • Share screenshots, column names, export format, row counts, and the step where the workflow stopped.
  • Use the sample reports and data-handling page for internal review before sending proprietary files anywhere.
